Operator, agreement and contact

GestureSynth.me is an independently operated browser music project. References to GestureSynth, we, us and our mean the operator of this site. Questions about these terms can be sent to lisheng3698@gmail.com. The site is not an official Google, MediaPipe, YouTube, Cloudflare or browser-vendor product.

You may read the guides without accepting camera access. If you use the interactive instrument or another site feature, these terms apply to that use. If you do not agree, do not use the feature. Any legal rights that cannot be excluded under the law where you live remain in effect.

What the service provides

GestureSynth.me provides a free, experimental musical interface that maps visible hand movements to browser-generated chords, theremin tones and loop events. It also provides tutorials, troubleshooting material and small practice arrangements. The service currently requires no account, subscription or payment to play.

Camera recognition, Web Audio, offline export and browser permissions vary by device. We may improve, replace, limit or discontinue a feature, exercise or compatibility path. We do not promise that a particular browser, camera, graphics processor, audio device or assistive technology will support every feature indefinitely.

Permission to use the site

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable permission to access the public site and use the instrument for lawful personal, educational or commercial music-making. This permission does not transfer ownership of the site software, visual design, written guides, brand, logos or other project materials, and it does not grant a right to resell access to the site itself.

You may link to public pages and discuss or demonstrate your own use of the instrument. Do not copy substantial parts of the site, present a mirror as the original service, remove notices, or use the GestureSynth.me name in a way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement without written permission. Open-source dependencies remain subject to their own licenses.

Your audio and third-party music rights

The instrument renders sound from the choices you make. We do not claim ownership of an original performance or loop merely because it was generated in your browser. You may use your original exported audio in personal or commercial projects, subject to these terms and any rights belonging to other people.

You remain responsible for the notes, compositions, lyrics, recordings, samples, trademarks and other material you perform, combine, publish or monetize. A practice page, chord-only study or public-domain label is not a legal clearance for every arrangement, territory or use. Obtain any permission required for third-party songs or other protected material before distribution.

Acceptable use

Use the site lawfully and in a way that does not harm the service or another person. Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access, bypass security or permission controls, introduce malware, probe private systems, overload the hosting service, automate abusive traffic, interfere with another visitor, or use the site to distribute unlawful content.

Do not misrepresent output as an official GestureSynth.me recording, falsely state that we endorse a product, or use the interface to violate privacy, publicity, copyright or other rights. Responsible security reports and ordinary accessibility tools are welcome; send a reproducible description to the contact address instead of exposing visitor data or disrupting production.

Camera, local processing and privacy

The interactive feature works only after you press Start and grant video permission in your browser. It requests no microphone. The application is designed to process camera frames and hand landmarks locally and to generate audio on the device. You control the browser permission and can stop the media tracks with Stop session or browser site controls.

Ordinary website delivery still sends network request information to hosting providers, and optional third-party services have separate data practices. Review the Privacy Policy before using the camera. Do not deliberately place personal information in a shared URL or send passwords, private recordings or unnecessary sensitive data to the support address.

Hearing, movement and equipment safety

Begin at a comfortable speaker or headphone level. Synthesizer tones, layered oscillators and sudden device-volume changes can sound louder than expected. Take breaks if repetitive hand movement causes discomfort, and keep enough space around you to avoid striking a person, screen, camera or other object.

The site is a creative tool, not medical advice, assistive-device certification or a clinical movement assessment. Do not rely on its recognition or audio output for safety-critical communication, diagnosis, treatment, emergency alerts or any situation where a missed gesture could cause harm.

External services, links and future advertising

Some pages link to external documentation or include a privacy-enhanced YouTube demonstration. A third-party destination has its own content, terms and privacy practices. A link does not mean that we control or endorse the destination, and we are not responsible for its availability or transactions you choose to make there.

The site may display clearly labelled advertising after required privacy and consent controls are active. Advertising must not be treated as part of the instrument controls or as our recommendation of an advertiser. We do not use popunder advertising or ads that cover the core Start, Stop, settings or performance controls.

Availability and warranty disclaimer

The site, guides and instrument are provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that access will be uninterrupted, that recognition will be perfectly accurate, that exported files will meet a particular specification, or that every explanation will remain complete as browsers and dependencies change.

Test the instrument, browser permissions, output level and exported file before relying on them for a lesson, stream, recording session or performance. Keep your own copies of any file you need. A localStorage preference, unsaved loop or temporary browser Blob may disappear when a tab, browser profile or device state changes.

Limits of responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from use of the free service, including lost opportunities, lost data, failed recordings, device incompatibility or reliance on an inaccurate gesture result. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that the law does not allow us to exclude.

You are responsible for your device, browser settings, network connection, audio level, workspace and the material you publish. If a problem occurs, stop the session, mute the output and preserve any useful diagnostic details that do not expose private camera content.

Changes, enforcement and severability

We may update these terms when the project, providers or legal requirements change. The page will show a revised Last updated date. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from that use; changes do not remove rights that already apply to you under mandatory law.

We may restrict abusive access or take reasonable steps to protect the site and other visitors. If one part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply as far as the law permits. Failure to enforce a term once does not waive it. Questions or notices may be sent to lisheng3698@gmail.com.
