Export a Gesture Synth Loop as WAV

The four-track sequencer is already open on this page. Record or draw at least one event, review the mix and export synthesized loop audio locally as WAV with a WebM fallback.

gesture synth export wav

Record, Check and Export a Gesture Synth WAV

Gesture Synth export WAV uses the events stored in the visible four-track loop grid. It does not record the microphone, webcam video or an unquantized live performance. The browser reconstructs the selected notes, volume, filter and mode for each saved step and renders the final audio locally.

Before exporting, choose tempo, bars and time signature, then record after the count-in or draw events directly into the grid. Export becomes meaningful only when at least one unmuted event is present.

Create at Least One Loop Event

Set the BPM, number of bars and time signature before recording. Select a track, choose Record and wait through the one-measure count-in. Recognized chord or Theremin events are quantized to the visible steps until the loop wraps.

You can also edit the grid directly. Add a degree to an empty step, clear a mistaken event or use another track for a second layer. The export length follows the current bars, signature and tempo rather than the amount of time you kept the camera running.

  • Confirm at least one coloured event appears in the grid.
  • Use a slow BPM while learning stable camera gestures.
  • Add separate layers on Tracks 2–4 instead of overwriting Track 1.
  • Listen through one full loop before downloading.

Check Track Volume, Mute and Solo Before Export

The offline renderer respects each track's volume, mute and solo state. If any track is soloed, non-solo tracks are excluded. Muted tracks are excluded even when their grid events remain visible. Review these controls before assuming an event is missing from the file.

The exported sound also preserves whether each event came from Gesture or Theremin mode and applies the saved filter position. Master playback from the live camera is not captured; only the sequencer data becomes the downloaded audio.

What the Downloaded WAV Contains

Supported browsers render a two-channel file at 44.1 kHz and encode it as 16-bit PCM WAV. The default filename is gesturesynth-loop.wav. A limiter is applied during rendering to reduce clipping when multiple tracks play together, but track balance should still be checked by ear.

The file contains synthesized oscillators generated from loop events. It contains no webcam frames, microphone recording, account information or cloud project data. The loop editor itself is session-based, so download the file before reloading or closing the tab.

Make a reference export before arranging several tracks. Set one bar of 4/4 at 60 BPM, place a single basic chord on the first step and leave the remaining steps unchanged. With no tracks soloed and the active track unmuted, the rendered loop should last about four seconds because four quarter-note beats at 60 BPM each take one second. Open the downloaded file in an ordinary audio player and confirm that the chord begins, decays and the file reaches the expected loop boundary. This small known case checks timing, file decoding and output level. If it works but a later arrangement is silent, compare the later track mute, solo, volume and grid states instead of blaming the export format.

Use the WebM Fallback or Fix an Empty Export

If OfflineAudioContext is unavailable or fails, GestureSynth attempts a MediaRecorder WebM audio export. The interface reports which format was saved. A browser that supports neither path can still play the instrument but cannot create the local download.

For an empty or silent result, confirm the grid contains events, no required track is muted, the expected solo state is active and track volume is above zero. Then try a short one-bar loop in recent Chrome or Edge to separate project settings from browser export support.

Answers before you play

Gesture Synth WAV Export FAQ

Does WAV export record my microphone?

No. The file is rendered from sequencer events with browser synthesis. GestureSynth never requests microphone permission.

Does the WAV include webcam video?

No. Camera frames are used locally for hand landmarks and are never included in an audio export.

Why did Gesture Synth export WebM instead of WAV?

The preferred OfflineAudioContext path was unavailable or failed, so the app used a supported MediaRecorder WebM audio fallback.

Why is my exported file silent?

Check that the grid contains at least one event, the relevant track is not muted, solo settings include that track and its volume is above zero.
